Two area golfers are within a shot of the Class B state title heading into the final day of the boy state golf tournament as Sully Buttes’ Gavin Colson and Miller’s Derek Brueggemean are tied for second place.
Brueggeman and Colson each would shoot a three over par, 75 in the first day, trailing Wessington Springs’ Blake Larson who finished with a 74. Sully Buttes is also eighth, the highest area team at the Class B boys golf tournament.
Wesley Wittler is tied for 24th for Sully Buttes at 10 over par 82. Jonas Olson would round the scoring for the first day at a 94 while Logan Severson would shoot a 102. The Chargers are 35 over par as a team with Miller behind them tied for ninth a shot behind at 36 over par.
Along with Brueggeman, Oliver Fritzche would shoot an 84 with Jorryn Heilman shooting a 93 and Luke Norden at 106.
Stanley County would see Wyatt Mortenson would finish with a 93 on the first day while Barret Schweitzer would shoot a 97.
Lyman’s Easton Robbins is 13 shots off the lead after the first day shooting an 87 while teammate Aaron Erikson had a 104.
Potter County’s team would be led by Wiley Cronin at a 93 while Jaxon Kruse is at a 95 and Brendan Bieber at 106 to round out the scoring.
Wessington Springs has a nine shot lead at the end of the first day at just a 21 over par as a team.
