The Pierre Governor golf team will head to Yankton at Hilcrest Golf Course for the 2024 State Tournament which begins Monday and runs through Tuesday.
The Governors will send five golfers to the state tournament this year as Hadley Hart and Annie Mosteller will return and newcomers Sittie Kassan, Kiera Mertes and Drew Rechtenbaugh will be competing for the first time at a state tournament.
The Governors started the year with just Hart and Mosteller competing and slowly working in the younger girls into the varsity matches to then having a full team and getting fourth at the ESD. It is quite the accomplishment for the Governors and giving themselves a chance to compete and finish high at the state tournament with Mitchell and Aberdeen Central as the favorites.
