Day Two of the 2024 Track and Field State Championships would see two Pierre Governors win individual titles heading into the final day.
Pierre
Jared Lutmer would cap his senior year with a cross country state title in the fall and a 3200 meter run state title in the spring setting a new PR at 9:20:47 while Reese Terwilliger would go back to back with shot put state titles winning the AA title with a distance of 41-10.50.
Stanley County
Stanley County would get its second top ten finish of the weekend as Barrett Schweitzer would place fourth in the javelin setting a new PR in his final time competing for the Buffaloes.
Miller
The Miller Rustlers had its first top ten finish on Friday as Alex Schumacher would finish in ninth place in the Class A 800 meter run. Miller has competed and completed six events with all six placing inside the top 15.
Potter County
The Potter County Battlers had another two top ten finishes on Friday as Nicholas Schlachter would place fifth in the 3200 meter run and Emma Schlachter would be eighth in the 800 meter run. It improves their top ten finishes to six as a team in the Class B championships.
Highmore-Harrold
Autumn Fallis would take eighth place for the Highmore-Harrold Pirates in the Class B 3200 meter run. She’s the first top ten finish for the Pirates in the 2024 state championships.
Jones County
Adrik Schoon would set a PR in the 800 meter run getting second place for the Jones County Coyotes on Friday. Schoon was just two seconds away from winning the state championship. It’s the third top ten finish for Jones County.
Lyman
The Lyman Raiders had its first top ten finish on Friday as Aksel Ehlers placed fifth in the Class B pole vault event.
