The Oahe Zap scored two runs in each of the first three innings on its way to a 9-5 win over the Fremont Moo on Friday night in the first win of the season.
Two bases loaded walks in the first helped the Zap score the first two runs, but a two run homer in the bottom of the second by Jacob Trusner made it 4-0 and an RBI double from Aiden Johnson and two out RBI single from Cole Ottersberg would make it 6-0 in the third. Fremont tried to make a rally scoring two in the fourth and another in the fifth to make it 6-3, but another run in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings which included a solo homer by Vince Pollizi secure the win. Julius Kass would get the win in relief Jakeb Swallow. Kass would go three innings allowing three runs, two earned on two hits with four walks and five strikeouts. Oahe had 14 strikeouts of the 27 men retired on Friday. Jake Hutter would get the final six outs for the save.
Oahe evens its record to 1-1 on the season with game three of the series tonight at 6:05 and Sunday’s series finale at 1:11 all at Hyde Stadium.
