The Pierre Governor golf team had to wait a couple of extra days to play in the ESD, but the Govs would finish fourth at Fox Run Golf course in Yankton, the final event before the state championships. Hadley Hart finished top ten.
The Governors were led by Hart who finished with a 14 over par, 86 just six shots back of fifth place. Hart would par eight holes. Annie Mosteller also placed inside the top 20 finishing tied for 16th at 17 over par, 89 while Sittie Kasan was tied for 19th at 19 over par, 91. Kiera Mertes would shoot a 99 and Drew Rechtenbaugh at 103. Mitchell’s Maddie Childs would beat out teammate Allison Meyerink by a single stroke to win the ESD individual title at two over par, 74. Yankton’s Ellia Homstad would tie for third with Watertown’s Avery Palmquist at seven over par, 79.
Pierre would finish with a team total over 77 over par while Mitchell would win the team ESD title by nine shots at 35 over par. Watertown was second at plus-44 and Aberdeen Central third at plus-46.
The Governors will now be ready for the state championships also in Yankton, but this time will be at Hillcrest Golf Course. The state championships will be Monday and Tuesday, June 3-4.
