The Pierre Governor high school baseball team would receive four members onto the All-Region Team as seniors Jett Zabel and Nolan Petersen along with juniors George Stalley and Ridge Leimbach would make this year’s team.
The Governors were led in average by Petersen this season as he had a team leading .391 average in qualifying at bats as he had the most hits at 21 and was tied for second in RBIs with 11. Zabel also had 11 RBIs for the Governors as he hit .224 on the season but did his best work on the mound. Zabel would lead the team in innings pitched with 26 while going 4-1 on the season having an ERA at 1.56 and WHIP at 1.31. His batting average against was only .165 with only Leimbach’s being better by a single point at .164. Leimbach was 3-0 at the time of his injury as one of the best pitchers in the state. Leimbach was 3-0 as a starter in his only three starts of the season. He finished with 27 strike outs to just six walks and an ERA at 0.44 and WHIP at 0.94. Stalley would have his hand at pitching well as he went 2-1 with a save and a WHIP at just 1.89. Stalley was second on the team in hits with 21 and led the team with six doubles and had the most runs scored with 14. Pierre finished at 13-11 one win away from the state quarterfinals.
