The Pierre Governors are at home again this weekend facing a familiar foe in the Yankton Bucks, this time with the season on the line as the playoffs begin.
Pierre and Yankton are in this spot because of Sunday’s doubleheader sweep for Pierre. Had Yankton won one of the two games, the Bucks would be at home instead of on the road. Now, Yankton has to beat Pierre in a best-of-three series at Hyde Stadium to advance to the state tournament. The Governors won game one on Sunday 11-9 coming back from 6-4 and 8-6 deficits. Pierre then controlled game two with a 4-2 win. The Govs busted out of the slump offensively and received solid pitching in the doubleheader sweep and want the same result this weekend. Steve Gray, head coach of the Pierre Governors says Yankton is a good hitting team…
Gray says just playing the Bucks last Sunday it gives you an idea on how to play them…
Gray says it’s the fundamentals which are key this weekend…
