The Augustana Vikings are heading to the Division II Women’s College World Series with a 6-0 shutout victory over Rogers St on Wednesday, sweeping the series.
Torri Chute would open up the scoring in the bottom of the first with an RBI double to get the Vikings on the board and in control. Augustana would score a run in each of the next two innings to lead 3-0 after three capped with a Chute solo shot. Andrea Cain would put the finishing touches on the win in the fourth powering a three run home run to give the Vikings a 6-0 lead and end Rogers St’s season. Grace Glanzer would throw a three hit shutout allowing a walk with four strikeouts.
Augustana advances to the Women’s College World Series and will face Charleston, West Virginia in the first game of the eight team, two bracket tournament which begins on Sunday, May 19.
