The Pierre Governor tennis team would finish the state tournament in seventh place with eight of the nine flights in place matches to close out the season.
Singles began the day on Tuesday as Jacob Leiferman would have the best finish in the singles flights as he would take home third place in flight three. Leiferman, a junior, won the third place match with a 10-5 score as the five seed jumped two seeds to win third. Brady Lowery would also finish with the consolation championship in flight five as he won 10-4 over the eight seed as the ten seed gets hardware. Lowery is just a freshman and will have plenty to build off of heading into the 2025 season. Devin Dodson would finish in sixth place after winning his fifth place semifinal match as the seven seed finished higher than his seed in flight one. Lucas Hight was eliminated in the fifth place semifinal in flight two. Weston Northrup in flight four would fall in his only match, but still place fourth overall. He also finished higher than his seed. Noah Lueking would fall in the consolation championship in flight six.
For doubles, in flight two, Dodson and Northrup would place fourth falling in the third place matchup, but both flight one and three with Leiferman and Hight along with Lueking and Marty Blanchette would take home the consolation championship.
Pierre would finish with a team score of 186. Sioux Falls Christian would win the team title outscoring Rapid City Christian 540.5 to 528. Sioux Falls Christian had someone in the championship in all nine flights while Rapid City Christian had all but one make the championship. The Madison doubles flight two team was the only one from the field to make a championship match.
