The Pierre Governor baseball team will host its final two doubleheaders of the regular season on Friday and Sunday as the O’Gorman Knights and Yankton Bucks will be in town.
The Governors picked up a necessary win on Tuesday against Stevens and are in a good spot to host the regional round next weekend, but still have to take care of business this weekend. O’Gorman is coming into the final weekend of the regular season at 12-5 in South Dakota games. The Knights are in fifth place, just ahead of Pierre in the standings. A couple of wins can move the Govs passed the Knights in the standings.
Yankton will come into the weekend at 8-8 and in 11th place in the standings. Yankton swept Washington on Tuesday and will face Tea on Saturday before heading to Pierre on Sunday to close out the weekend and regular season. If the standings don’t change, this would be the regional round matchup for these two teams.
Coverage tonight begins at 4:45 with first pitch at 5:00 with coverage starting at 12:45 on Sunday with first pitch at 1:00. All four games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports. Jon Winkler and Blake Dean will have the call.
