For the first time since 2019, the Sioux Falls Stampede have an overtime win as the Herd win 6-5 over the Tri-City Storm as Hunter Anderson would score the OT goal.
Jeff McNelis and Chase LaPinta each would score in the first period to give the Stampede a 2-0 lead before LaPinta’s second goal early in the second would give Sioux Falls a 3-1 advantage. However, Tri-City would fight back scoring back-to-back goals to tie the game at 3-3 but Tyler Borgula would answer each time giving the Herd the lead back as Sioux Falls never trailed in the win which included a goal with 58 second remaining to go up 5-4. Tri-City would get the extra attacker goal with just four second remaining to send the game into overtime. Anderson’s goal came at 11:14 mark of the first overtime propelling the Stampede to just needing one more win to reach the conference semifinals. Goalie Christian Manz made 26 saves on 31 shots for the Stampede.
Sioux Falls will go for the sweep in the best-of-three series in Kearney, Nebraska. Puck drop is at 7:05.
