PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Pierre man whose early 2000’s murder conviction became the subject of t-v documentaries and podcasts has died in prison. The South Dakota Department of Corrections says 64 year-old Brad Reay died in the Jameson Annex infirmary Sunday. He was serving a life sentence for the murder of his wife Tami in 2006. She had informed Brad she wanted a divorce and shortly after went missing. She was found near the Missouri River and had been stabbed 37 times. Brad Reay, according to an Associated Press article from January 13th of 2007, tried to blame the couple’s daughter for Tami’s death claiming he awoke to find their daughter standing over Tami with a knife. He also attempted to frame a co-worker of Tami’s she was having an affair with. In the years since the death of her mother, Haylee Cole has become an advocate against domestic violence.
