Using long range shooting and air tight defense, the third ranked Ethan Rustlers took care of business against the Sully Buttes Charger girls 68-27 Saturday afternoon at the Redfield Holiday Classic.
The Chargers started strong, with three-three point shots made by Addyson Chicoine, but Ethan caught fire and lit up the perimeter with six threes made in the first quarter to go up 21-12 after one quarter. The Rustlers kept the throttle open in the second, outscoring Sully Buttes 22-5 in the second to go up 43-17 at the half. In the second half the Rustlers didn’t slow down in the third, and midway through, the continuous clock was enacted, and by games end, both teams had emptied their benches for second unit players to get time on the court.
Sully Buttes was once again led in scoring by Stevie Wittler and Chicoine–who each scored 12 points apiece. That tandem also had identical point totals the previous night in Highmore.
For Ethan, Ava Lingemann finished with 27, while Madeline Bartscher added 17. In all, the Rustlers made 13 three point shots.
Next up, the Charger girls and boys get right back to the court Monday night for a doubleheader in Aberdeen against Aberdeen Roncalli. The Charger girls go first at about 6:15, with the boys game to follow. Those games can be heard on Country 95.3FM–pierrecountry.com, and on Youtube at Country 95.3 Sports.
