The younger, quicker Highmore-Harrold Pirates used steady ball movement and pressure defense to stifle the Sully Buttes Charger girls 58-42 Friday night in Highmore.
Leading 25-21 at the half, the Pirates outscored Sully Buttes 33-21 in the second half to push their record to 4-4 on the season. Sophomore point guard Autumn Fallis ran the offense to perfection and led the Pirates scoring attack with 15, but eighth grader Jada Baloun nearly stole the show finishing the night with 14 points, 12 coming in the first half from the low post.
The Chargers tried their one-two punch of Stevie Wittler and Addyson Chicoine with both players scoring 15 points, but the rest of the starters and bench only mustering 12 additional points to fall short and fall to 4-3 on the season.
The Chargers play the Ethan Rustlers in the Holiday Classic Saturday in Redfield. Game time is scheduled for 5PM tip.
