The season has been full of cancellations so far, but Wednesday, the Pierre Governor baseball team will get to make up one of those lost games as they travel to Chamberlain to meet the Harrisburg Tigers.
It will be a single game between the two teams as the Tigers are in need of playing more games before the end of the season which concludes this weekend. Harrisburg is currently 8-1 in South Dakota games and will make it to the minimum 12 games at the end of the weekend, but not wanting to take a chance, they are making up the game against Pierre today. If you don’t play 12 South Dakota games you lose all your seed points.
The Governors don’t have to worry about reaching the minimum games, but now have a shot a big seed point win. The Govs are rolling with a seven game winning streak and have came back in five of those games and are at 7-5 on the season. Pierre jumped in the standings from being 13th to now being in fifth and just one spot away from hosting the first and second round on Saturday, May 20th.
The teams are meeting in Chamberlain today for the single game. Coverage will start at 5:45 with first pitch at 6:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
