Governor Wrestling Sweeps Team Championships in Rapid City

Another fantastic weekend of wrestling for the Pierre Governors as the girls and boys would both win the team championships in Rapid City. It’s the second straight weekend for the girls to leave with the team title.

The Governor boys didn’t have an individual winner as it took a full team effort to get the win. The Govs scored a 196 beating Sturgis out who scored a 178.5. Pierre’s best finishers were Tristan Spencer in the 138 who finished in second place. Alex Oedekoven in the 113 and Chance Carda in the 182 placed third. Gavin Stotts int he 195 and Josh Rydberg in the heaveyweight would both place fourth for Pierre.

The Governor girls would have individual wins by Sydney Uhrig in the 106, Mary Mehlhoff in the 170, Marlee Shorter in the 190 and Ciara McFarling in the 285. Gianna Stangeland in the 132 and Abbigail Lewis in the 142 each would make the championship round and finish in second place. The Governors dominated with a 223 in the team score beating out second place Bismarck by 62 points.
