The Sully Buttes Chargers and Ipswich Tigers will begin its seasons tonight as the Chargers will host the Tigers in Onida to kick off the girls basketball season.
Two teams met in the season opener last year in Ipswich as the Chargers were able to roll in a 67-33 victory over the Tigers. Sully Buttes doesn’t want anything to change especially in front of the home faithful tonight.
The Chargers return Calleigh Chicoine, Caitlin Birney, Ally Wittler and Lydia Hill for their senior year after the Chargers went 18-5 last season losing in the SoDak 16 to Faith. The four seniors have big goals in mind as the season begins tonight. The Ipswich Tigers will have four seniors, but just one junior and the rest sophomore and freshman for the Tigers who went 6-15 last year.
Susie Rilling is the new head coach for the Chargers. Rilling had been an assistant, but had filled the role of acting head coach at various times for the late Mark Senftner over the last couple of years.
