The 14U Pierre Post 8 team was shutout at home on Thursday in the first game of the state tournament in a 10-0 loss to Sioux Falls East.
Bridger Babcock, Carter Sanderson, Lincoln Shoenhard and Hudson Shaffer each had a hit for Pierre as the offense was stymied throughout the six inning loss. Will Northrup was tagged for the 10 runs, but went three shutout innings before East scored its first run. Pierre had five errors in the ballgame but only one unearned run against in the ballgame.
Pierre will take on the Yankton Lakers at 6:00 Friday as they look to go to 1-1 in the tournament.
