PIERRE — One person is dead following a crash on Interstate 90 in Jones County. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the 20 year-old female passengers was riding in a 2011 Ford Edge with a 21 year-old male driver 17 miles east of Murdo around 6:15 am on July 3rd when the crash happened. The preliminary investigation indicates the westbound S-U-V left the roadway to the left, went into the ditch and rolled over. The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Seatbelt use by the female passenger is being investigated. The male driver suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. The names of those involved are not being released pending notification of family.
