Pierre Post 8’s offense scored 14 runs in game one for a 14-11 win over Mitchell before dropping a 9-4 game to split a doubleheader on Wednesday.
Pierre used four pitchers in the first game as Isaac Polak and Jayden Wiebe each went two innings before Jett Zabel went an inning and a third and Lincoln Kienholz closed the door with the final four outs. Five different Governors drove in two runs each as George Stalley, Bennett Dean, Wiebe, Zabel and Brecken Krueger all had two RBI. Pierre jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the second and led 9-2 before Mitchell scored six times to pull within one, but Pierre continued to hold the margin.
In game two, an hour rain delay in the bottom of the second with a 5-0 lead, Mitchell controlled the rest of the game. Bennett Dean drove in two runs for the Eights while Kienholz blasted a solo shot in the seventh inning to pull within five. Connor Bruce went three scoreless innings in relief.
