Pierre Post 8 had too many walks in game one and not enough timely hits in game two as Watertown would sweep 12-5 and 3-2 on Tuesday.
Isaac Polak had nine walks in three innings in game one giving up seven earned runs as Jack Merkwan was tagged for another four runs in two innings of relief. Bennett Dean, Jett Zabel and George Stalley each had a double as Zabel, Stalley and Lincoln Kienholz all drove in a run. Jerod Cyrus of Watertown drove in five runs on three double in the win.
In game two, Kienholz would drive in two runs on a single in the top of the third to give Pierre its first lead of the day. However, it was short lived as Watertown would answer in the bottom of the inning and then take the lead for good in the fourth on a bases loaded walk. Jett Zabel took the loss on the mound even though he struck out 10 in the game and Pierre combined for 16 strikeouts in six innings. Pierre would strand two runners in scoring position in the fifth with nobody out. Brian White, manager of Post 8, says they didn’t do throw it well enough on Tuesday…
White says they’re going to continue to work to consistently have good at-bats…
