The Pierre Governor girls golf team was fifth of five teams in the Aberdeen Invite on Thursday. Pierre shot a 349, just 19 shots off Aberdeen Central for the team win.
There was little separation between the five teams as Aberdeen Central as a team won by just four shots over Mitchell while Huron and Watertown were behind by 10 and 14 shots. It was just as close on the individual side as Pierre’s Andrea Mosteller and Haley Nadeau tied for 10th place at 14 over, 85. It was seven shots off the leaders which turned into three individuals shooting a 78. Allison Meyerink of Mitchell, Riley Zebroski of Watertown and Olivia Braun of Aberdeen Central all tied for the individual win.
Ellie Jo Simpson shot an 88 on the day while Madilyn Brakke had a 91 to round out the Governors scoring. Simpson and Nadeau each had a birdie on hole two, the only two birdies on the day for Pierre.
The Governors will be in Huron next week Thursday for its next invitational.
