Saturday evening the South Dakota Coyotes will play in its first ever Sweet 16 contest as they take on the Michigan Wolverines in Wichita, Kansas.
The Coyotes come in with two technical upset wins beating Ole Miss in the first round 75-61 and then knocking off Baylor on their home court, the two seed in the region 61-47 on Sunday. The Yotes will be looking for its third upset of the NCAA Tournament. Onida native Chloe Lamb is averaging 17.5 points in the two wins while Hannah Sjerven is averaging 18 a game.
Naz Hillmon has been the best Wolverine averaging 25.5 points in the tournament while Leigha Brown has been solid off the bench scoring 20 in the win over Villanova to advance to the Sweet 16. Michigan comes in at 24-6 while the Yotes are 29-5.
Tipoff from Wichita is scheduled for 5:30. It’s the final Sweet 16 game of the day and round. The winner will face the winner of top seeded Louisville and fourth seeded Tennessee in the Regional Final on Monday.
