The ice was certainly tilted in favor of the Oahe Capitals on Sunday as Huron’s goalie, Cooper Letcher was working all night facing 74 Caps shot in Oahe’s 6-1 win to remain undefeated.
It took eight and half minutes before the Caps were able to strike first with Jaden Flor scoring his first of the season as Jon Lyons fed the puck to the slot. Lyons finished with a goal and an assist. Dre Berndt redirected a Jarron Beck shot to beat Letcher to make it 2-0. The Caps closed out the period with Andre Carbonneau scoring his second in as many games to lead 3-1 at the end of the first period. Carter Sanderson scored his eighth goal of the season as the lone tally in the second before opening the third period with a power play goal to make it 5-1 before Lyons capped it off for a 6-1 win.
The Caps peppered 25 shots in the first, 16 in the second and 33 in the third while Collin Lee had to make just 17 saves for the win.
Oahe will play next Sunday against Rushmore after winning Friday 5-4 in overtime in Aberdeen and 6-3 over Watertown on Saturday. Coverage will begin at 12:55 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
