The Sully Buttes Charger volleyball team showed more teamwork and patience on the court, and rolled to a three set sweep of North Central 25-17, 25-20, and 25-13 Tuesday night in Onida.
The Chargers kept their same lineup as they had last week against Lyman, but this time had some bench help from junior Calleigh Chicoine coming back from an ankle injury. The Chargers net play helped make a difference, with a big night on the front line by juniors Ally Wittler, and Lydia Hill—totaling a dozen kill shots, and 17 service aces by Sully Buttes helped to seal the Thunders’ fate.
The Chargers are now 5-8 on the season, while North Central slips to 3-11. The Thunder showed spurts of progress, but shot themselves in the foot with 10 service errors on the night. The Thunder had just one senior available, and started four sophomores, and one freshman, along with the senior.
Next up for Sully Buttes is a road contest Thursday at Sunshine Bible Academy, and on Saturday the Chargers will host the Central South Dakota Conference tournament.
