PIERRE — Charges are pending against a 70 year-old Fort Pierre man after crashing his car on the John Waldron Memorial Bridge. Pierre Police Captain Bryan Walz says officers responded to the single-vehicle crash just after nine PM on the Pierre side of the Bridge. The vehicle driven by the man was traveling west on Sioux Avenue, toward Fort Pierre when the driver-side bumper struck a crash cushion against the blunt end of the divider that separates east and westbound traffic. The driver was transported to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Walz says the crash and incident remains under investigation.
