On Saturday in Salem, Caytee Williams, senior on the Pierre Governor girls basketball team participated on the Class AA team for the 3-Class Shootout. Williams’ team won both games over Class A and B.
In game one of the day, the AA team took down the Class A team 85-77 in a 15 point second half comeback. Leading after the first quarter 20-19, the AA team were outscored by 12 in the second and trailed by 15, just over 30 seconds into the second half. The AA team stormed back and took the lead at the end of the third quarter 67-65. Williams scored four points in the win shooting 1-6 from the floor and going 2-2 from the free throw line. Isabelle Moore from O’Gorman was the game high 20 points in the win.
The second game had the AA girls jump out to a 15 point lead at the end of the first quarter and never trailed in the entire ballgame but the B girls did make it interesting trimming the lead margin to a 79-76 win. After starting in game one of the day, Williams came off the bench to score a bucket for the AA girls but in true Caytee Williams fashion, had three steals of the 14 the AA team accumulated.
In the other two games, the AA boys scored 244 points in the two wins beating the A boys 126-97 behind three players scoring 20 plus points. In the final game of the night, the AA boys used seven different players scoring double figures to route the B boys, 118-94. Tahj Two Bulls, from Sioux Falls Washington won the dunk contest.
