McCarthy says while the cause is unknown, the origin of the fire appears to be in the van’s engine compartment. The fire does not appear to be suspicious. Other than the van and some adjacent grass no damage to other vehicles or state buildings were reported. Assisting on the scene were the Pierre Police Department and Hughes County Sheriff.
